AI predicted to grow Nigeria’s $288.60 million robotics sector

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential, according to stakeholders, to expand Nigeria’s robotics sector.

The robotics market in Nigeria is expected to generate $288.60 million in sales in 2024 and $617.10 million by 2029, according to Statista. When compared to US revenue, which is expected to reach $9.42 billion in 2024, this revenue disparity is negligible. Experts believe AI has the potential to partially close this income gap.

The market is dominated by service robotics, which is expected to generate US$288.60 million in revenue by 2024. The chairman of Terrahaptix, Nathan Nwachuku, declared, “AI is the future of robotics, and we intend to be at the forefront of this industry revolution.”

Health, education, and manufacturing are just a few of the important social and economic areas that might be repositioned by artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, according to Adesina Sodiya, a professor of computer science and information security.

However, much isn’t going on in the industry because of a shortage of quality professionals. In 2023, he stated, “We have not yet reached the level we would like to see in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, which employ about 3% of Nigerian professionals.”

To overcome this gap, Terrahaptix, a drone and robotics maker, has announced its first automation technology expo. Robotics specialists hope to use the event as a platform to demonstrate their advancements in AI and drone technology. The startup intends to unveil technologies that would transform the nation’s farming and logistics industries. To date, it has handled orders worth over $1 million for drone sentry.

“These goods are the result of many years of field testing and study. In addition, Nwachuku of Terrahaptix said, “We are excited to bring together experts, inventors, and enthusiasts in the automation sector to exhibit the newest breakthroughs in robotics, artificial intelligence, and drone technology.
