As part of a new wave of generative AI features, Apple is reportedly creating software that allows users to create personalized emojis on the run, according to Bloomberg. These capabilities generate a unique emoji for every circumstance, going beyond the collection of emojis that Apple provides.
Additionally, Siri is being modified by generative AI. According to Bloombeg, the Apple Watch will receive a more sophisticated Siri to help with tasks while on the go, and Apple’s virtual assistant should seem more natural with the use of its language models. Apple anticipates that the technology will enable Siri perform additional tasks, including text message summaries, and enhance the ones it now performs, like answering queries.
Furthermore, Apple plans to deploy new AI tools for macOS 15 and iOS 18 that will speed up and enhance search results, edit photographs, and decipher voice memos.
It seems probable that Apple will talk about a few of these capabilities at its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference next month. Compared to other corporate behemoths like Google and Microsoft, the business has been relatively quiet about its generative AI approach, but that doesn’t mean it should be written off in the AI arms race. Back in February, CEO Tim Cook made an assertion that “AI will affect every product and service we have.”
Apple’s tendency to be a little slow to make announcements is standard procedure. “Apple is very rarely first to market,” Business Insider was previously informed by Carolina Milanesi, senior analyst at Creative Strategies, a tech consulting firm. “They prefer to come in and disrupt the market — take anything from wearables to smartphones to tablets. They’ve never been first.”
