From September 10–11, Lagos, Nigeria, and the United States will play home to a pan-African Artificial Intelligence (AI) conference. Government representatives, tech titans, and representatives of civil society will convene at the conference to explore the advantages and disadvantages of developing and utilizing AI. In order to guarantee that AI is embraced securely and to everyone’s advantage, participants will seek to discover and coordinate tech governance techniques. Considering the past high-level meetings, this conference represents a major advancement in U.S.-Nigeria ties. African nations have already received calls from the US to work together on the responsible use of AI in military applications.
